Arrive at any time.

Day 2San José/Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

Opt to snorkel in the Caribbean or hike in Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge.

Day 3Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

With free time here, head out and explore. Don't forget to try some fantastic Afro-Caribbean cuisine.

Day 4Puerto Viejo de Talamanca/Tortuguero(1B, 1L, 1D)

Head to Tortuguero. Opt to visit the nesting grounds of the green and leatherback turtles at night (seasonal) and tour the canals on a guided tour by day.

Day 5Tortuguero(1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy free time to explore Tortuguero. Opt to kayak through the canals and view the wildlife, wake up early and head to the beach to watch turtle eggs hatch (seasonal), or just wander through the town.

Day 6Tortuguero/La Virgen(1B, 1D)

Guided nature trail walk through primary rainforest, swim in a pristine river surrounded by nature, then experience the remoteness of an old hacienda at night.

Day 7La Virgen(1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy a day in the beautiful Sarapiquí Valley. Optional activities include swimming in the river, night walks, an empanada-making lesson or lounging in a hammock.

Day 8La Virgen/La Fortuna(1B, 1L)

Enjoy an included visit to a Planeterra- and MIF-supported coffee cooperative with a local lunch. Continue to La Fortuna for activities like rafting, waterfall rappelling and relaxing in local hot springs.

Days 9–10La Fortuna

Enjoy two free days in La Fortuna to enjoy optionals.

Day 11La Fortuna/Monte Verde

Travel from La Fortuna to Monteverde and into the cool mountain air of the area.

Day 12Monte Verde

Guided tour of Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. Opt to fly across the forest canopy on ziplines or visit the frog pond.

Day 13Monte Verde/Quepos
