Itinerary Notes

Please note that due to seasonal weather the itinerary on Day 10 in Doubtful Sound varies from winter to summer months. The winter itinerary runs for all departures between June 4 - September 20. The remaining departures will follow the summer itinerary.

Day 1Auckland

Arrive at any time.

Day 2Auckland/Raglan(1B, 1D)

Take the scenic route to an artsy beach town known for great surf breaks. En route, visit spectacular Bridal Veil Falls for a walk. Then, enjoy a sunset dinner cruise on the harbour. Option to try bone carving with local Maori, surf lessons, stand up paddle boarding lessons, sea kayaking or simply exploring the village and its arts and crafts shops.

Day 3Raglan/Tongariro National Park(1B)

Journey to a working eco farm for breakfast and to learn about local conservation efforts. Continue on to Tongariro National Park and enjoy a hike with views of an active volcano and spectacular scenery.

Day 4Tongariro National Park/Rotorua(1B, 1D)

Drive through the Lake Taupo region, en route to Rotorua. Visit a historic Maori village with a local guide who explains the geothermal aspects of the area. Learn about local myths and legends and enjoy dinning on Hangi traditional cuisine. Later, relax with a dip in the geothermal spa pools at the hotel.

Day 5Rotorua/Christchurch(1B)

Fly to Christchurch and enjoy an orientation walk.

Day 6Christchurch/Franz Josef(1B)

Enjoy the scenic TranzAlpine Train and continue down the west coast to the glacial area of Franz Josef. Opt for a guided walk or a soak in the hot pools on your free day.

Day 7Franz Josef(1B)

Spend the day exploring the stunning region around Franz Josef.

Day 8Franz Josef/Queenstown(1B)

Travel through the rugged rainforest scenery of the west coast. Take a gondola ride for fantastic views of the city and opt to enjoy a group dinner at a skyline restaurant.

Day 9Queenstown(1B)

Enjoy the morning at leisure then take an afternoon cruise on a historic steamer across Lake Wakatipu.

Day 10Queenstown/Doubtful Sound(1B, 1D)

Embark on an amazing wilderness cruise through Doubtful Sound with the chance to see dolphins, fur seals, birds, and penguins. Option to go kayaking.

Day 11Queenstown(1B)

Cruise back to port. Tour ends in Queenstown at 4pm.
