Trace ancient life at Stobi
Stobi is one of North Macedonia’s most important archaeological sites and offers a great glimpse into ancient life. A thriving city in the Roman and early Christian eras, it features a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, intricate mosaic floors, and early Christian basilicas. Located just off the E75 highway, Stobi is an easy day trip from Skopje or Bitola. Some of the signs are in English, but you can book a guided tour for the full experience. Don’t miss the House of Peristeria, which has vibrant mosaics, or the baptistery, with its intricate design. Visit in the morning to avoid the heat and bring a hat and water — there’s limited shade.
