A deal to Antarctica? That's not something you see every day, especially since most low-ball travel prices are the result of too much capacity, and that's never been a problem to the world's most isolated continent.
But tour operator G Adventures is now offering special 10-day sailings with prices starting at $2,425 a person.
The cruises depart Ushuaia, Argentina from November next year to March, 2005.
A 100-metre, ice-strengthened passenger ship will be used.
Accommodation ranges from twin, triple and quad cabins to superior cabins and suites, all with private facilities and a window.
Public areas include a forward lounge and bar, dining room and well-stocked library.
The itinerary includes viewing the wildlife and visiting the scenic highlights of the Antarctic Peninsula, Drake Passage and the South Shetland Islands.
Airfare is additional, and there is a $300 local payment upon arrival, to be paid to the tour leader. The cost includes all shore excursions, meals and lectures.
