21 Jul 2010

VANCOUVER (July 21st, 2010) – Flight Centre Canada along with its corporate division, Corporate Traveller, is pleased to announce that G Adventures has won the company’s 3rd Annual Environmental Industry award established to recognize the industry supplier that has made the greatest effort to minimize their environmental impact. The award was presented to them at Flight Centre’s annual black-tie Ball held in Toronto on July 9th and in Vancouver on July 10th. It is the second time G Adventures has won having also claimed the award it in its inaugural year.

Several suppliers submitted proposals which represented all areas of the travel industry including airlines, resorts, car rental companies and tour operators. G Adventures was chosen because of their demonstrated leadership combined with measurable results at every level of the business worldwide.

“The quality and level of sustainable tourism initiatives being demonstrated in all of the proposals submitted this year shows us how seriously our travel partners view this issue and how committed they all are to reducing their impact on the environment.” said Greg Dixon, President of Flight Centre. “It was an extremely tough decision this year and we congratulate G Adventures on their second award in three years.”

"It's an honour to once again be awarded Flight Centre Canada's Annual Environmental Industry Award and be recognized for our sustainability efforts," said G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip. "We not only love changing people's lives with our unforgettable adventures, but we also insist on doing the right thing and minimizing the cultural and environmental impact on the people and places our trips visit."
