Travel industry to plant its mark on Tree Day

23 Jul 2010

G Adventures, provider of life-changing travel experiences, is building on their commitment to ‘do the right thing’ through supporting PlanetARK’s National Tree Day on 1st August.

As part of their ongoing commitment to green, sustainable travel, G Adventures is inviting the travel industry to join them in Linear Park, Fitzroy to plant trees and regenerate the surrounding bushland in Holden-Byrne Reserve.

G Adventures’ Head Honcho for Australia and New Zealand, Pete Rawley said “National Tree Day is a fantastic initiative and here at G Adventures, we’re proud to be a part of it. This is a great way for G Adventures, and the wider travel industry, to create happiness and community right here in Melbourne.

Our not-for-profit arm, Planeterra, is already doing so much in this space worldwide but if there’s a local opportunity for us to support something which genuinely contributes to the wider community, we’ll jump at it”.

National Tree Day is Australia’s biggest community tree-planting event, encouraging all Australians to help out by planting native trees and shrubs at in their local area. It focuses on inspiring Australians to care for the local flora and fauna by education and participation.
