URGENT Appeal to Support Tsunami Survivors in South Asia

30 Dec 2004

In response to the tsunami that has devastated the coastal areas of South Asia, G Adventures, Global Connections and G Adventures Traveller are sending out an urgent appeal for your donation to help support survivors. With millions homeless and the death toll rising daily, your contribution will help provide immediate assistance and long-term support to those in need.

In order increase the impact of your donation, our companies have committed to matching all contributions (up to the first $25,000 CAD). This means that your donation will be doubled.

In addition, we will be covering all administration costs so that your entire, matched contribution will go to support the work of PLAN International (known as the Foster Parent’s Plan in Canada) and the Canadian Red Cross.

Remember to check off "Asia Tsunami Relief Fund" on the form.
All donations will be made through the Planeterra Foundation, a non-profit organization developed by G Adventures as a way to support local community projects and international charities around the world. For more information about the Planeterra Foundation, visit www.planeterra.org

PLAN International is a global non-profit organization that has launched an international appeal and is raising funds to support emergency relief in the hardest hit regions of Sri Lanka. Immediate relief is provided in the form of food, clothing, shelter and water. Long-term support will involve assistance in rebuilding the homes and livelihoods of the survivors. PLAN is also working with local governments in India, Thailand, Indonesia and Bangladesh to assess the situation and give support where it is needed most. For more information about PLAN and their efforts, please visit www.fosterparentsplan.ca

The Canadian Red Cross is the leading humanitarian organization that works with governments and other humanitarian organizations in times of natural disasters to provide for people's basic needs—food, clothing, shelter, first aid, generators, emotional support, family reunification and to help rebuild communities. The Red Cross has sent aid workers to support relief efforts in the countries affected by the tsunamis and are currently working to provide basic necessities to the survivors.
