May 27, 2008 - G Adventures is pleased to announce that National Geographic Traveler magazine has selected its Project Cambodia trip for its “Tours of a Lifetime” issue. This is the second time G Adventures has been recognized. In 2006, its Ethiopian Simien Mountains trip was chosen for inclusion.
National Geographic Traveler editors wrote, “Using our criteria of authenticity, seasoned expertise, sustainability, unprecedented access, and local connections, we’ve chosen journeys that tap into that transformative power.”
“I applaud National Geographic Traveler for recognizing trips that make a difference. Project Cambodia is one of our volunteer trips, and this type of tour is the ideal way to learn about life in developing countries and most importantly, to make a positive impact” said Bruce Poon Tip, CEO of G Adventures.
Travellers on the Project Cambodia tour assemble wheelchairs for land mine victims from recycled materials, presenting the finished products to recipients upon completion. They also participate in a variety of hands-on community development activities in a nearby village. This volunteer trip also includes Cambodia's capital city, Phnom Penh, exploring the magnificent temple of Angkor Wat and relaxing on the white sandy beaches of Sihanoukville.
