Important Pre-Departure Information for Your Visit to Antarctica

G Adventures proudly holds membership in IAATO (the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators), an organization dedicated to advocating and advancing safe and eco-friendly private-sector travel in Antarctica. IAATO consists of over 100 reputable companies worldwide, all committed to safeguarding and preserving the unique Antarctic environment.
Since 2021, the world has witnessed an increase in highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks, leading to the tragic deaths of hundreds of thousands of seabirds globally. This devastating impact has also extended to marine mammals, including seals and sea lions. The broader Antarctic community, which includes IAATO and its members, is deeply concerned about the heightened risk of HPAI reaching Antarctica. Consequently, rigorous measures have been put in place to shield Antarctica from pathogens and non-native species.
We kindly request that you carefully review the following documents to adequately prepare and act in line with these essential guidelines for your upcoming Antarctica journey. By working collaboratively, we can protect this delicate region and ensure that it remains as pristine and majestic for future generations as it stands today.
