Depart early this morning for the journey to the Chitwan area. Arrive at the G ADventures–supported Barauli Community Homestay and get a warm welcome from the local Tharu Community Women's group. Get settled in and enjoy dinner with the new hosts.
The accommodations on this trip will take place at the Barauli Community Homestay. Designed to help preserve the culture of the local Tharu people, this homestay is completely run by women, bringing diversified income and sustainable tourism to the region.
This tour is an Independent Adventure with no group and no CEO (Chief Experience Officer). A G Adventures representative will meet you and give you a briefing to start your trip and there will be local guides provided at the included sights.
Settle in and scan the scenery from the convenience of a private vehicle.
Enjoy the hospitality of the Tharu, an indigenous community from the Teral belt of Nepal who live in eco-friendly homes. Experience their unique culture through dances, songs, and a delicious traditional meal. Stay on the property in private guesthouses that resemble traditional village architecture of the local Tharu people. Enjoy modern conveniences like running water, comfortable beds, and mosquito nets. The 14 cottages are each named after the local woman that manages the property. There are also tended gardens and small patches of farmland in the village compound with animals tethered inside the pastures.
Any meals will be eaten in the communal dining hall and the local women will serve you food that has been sourced completely from the surrounding land and community.
In the morning, go on a village walk and visit the local Tharu community surrounding the homestay. After Lunch embark on a jeep drive in Chitwan National Park and try to spot the elusive one-horned rhino. In the evening, enjoy a local Tharu Cultural Dance with the community followed by a local dinner.
Take an orientation walk through Barauli village. Visit local homes and learn more about the Tharu lifestyle, farming techniques, as well as the region's flora and fauna.
Explore the diverse ecosystems of Royal Chitwan National Park from the comfort of a 4x4 vehicle. Keep your eyes peeled for the many animals that live there, including birds, monkeys, crocodiles, and rhinos. If you're lucky, you might get to see an elusive tiger.
Experience traditional Chitwan life by opting to participate in a cultural dinner and dance held by our Barauli hosts.
Wake up early and experience the local community by bicycle. In the afternoon, cook local Tharu dishes with local family at their home and enjoy a nice lunch. Later, embark on another jeep drive through the Chitwan National Park.
Explore the village and its surroundings with a guided bike ride. Enjoy sunset on the banks of the Narayani river over a cup of tea.
Enjoy a hands on cooking experience in the home of a local Tharu family. You will have the chance to visit their farm land and pick vegetables to help prepare lunch. After, sit down with our Tharu hosts and enjoy a meal together.
