Itinerary

Day 1Riomaggiore

Arrive at any time.

There are no planned activities until an evening welcome meeting.

Tonight, the adventure begins. Feel free to explore — but make sure you're back in time to meet your group. After introductions, your CEO will review the details of your trip.

Your Welcome Moment: Welcome Moment - Meet Your CEO and Group
18:00 Evening

Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Don't forget to see the notice in the lobby (or ask reception) for the official time and place to meet up with the group.

Day 2Riomaggiore

Head out for the first day hike in the Cinque Terre National Park along the original coastal trail from Riomaggiori to Monterosso.

Head out into the Cinque Terre National Park to walk the original coastal trail from Riomaggiore to Monterosso. Enjoy spectacular views while passing through all five of the beautiful Cinque Terre villages.

The walking trails connecting each village to its neighbours are well-marked and provide stunning views of the National Park and the Ligurian Sea. The picturesque coastal trail winds along the shore, varying in nature and difficulty from an easy stroll to a rough and, on occasion, physically challenging hike.

There is plenty of time to stop en route and explore each village, taste some fresh seafood and local specialties at lunchtime, and perhaps round off the afternoon with a glass of local limoncello or wine straight from the vineyards that line the route.

Riomaggiore to Manarola Hike
Riomaggiore – Manarola30m 1km

Begin with the easy concrete path from Riomaggiore to Manarola, known as the Via Dell'Amore, or "Lovers Walk". The most famous section of the Cinque Terre, it winds along the rock-face overlooking the sea.

Manarola to Corniglia Hike
1h 2km

The stretch from Manarola to Corniglia is an easy hike for the most part. To reach the village of Corniglia, which sits spectacularly on a cliff-top overlooking the azure Mediterranean, climb a stairway of over 360 steps. Don't worry though because, if you prefer, you can catch the small green shuttle bus up the hill instead. The view is gorgeous no matter how you get there.

Corniglia to Vernazza Hike
Corniglia – Vernazza1h30m 4km

Begin hiking from Corniglia to Vernazza. The trail becomes more challenging, with more ascents and descents and some tricky narrow trails.

Vernazza to Monterosso Hike
Vernazza – Monterosso al Mare2h-4h 10-15km

The trail from Vernazza to Monterosso is steep - it winds through olive orchards and vineyards and is rocky in places, but offers superb views of the bay.

Day 3Riomaggiore

Hike the higher trails of the Cinque Terre coast, taking the less trodden paths to unspoiled villages.

Cinque Terre Inland Hike
Riomaggiore8h

Venture onto one of the inland and much higher trails, which winds for much of the route through cool and shady woodland. The views are not constant, thanks to the trees, but when you come across a vantage point the panorama is truly breathtaking. Fewer tourists venture up here so the villages are unspoiled and retain a lovely sense of tranquility.

Day 4Riomaggiore

Enjoy a free day to spend at leisure either further exploring the Cinque Terre National Park or choosing any other optional activity.

There are countless optional activities to suit all interests: hiking, biking, boat trips, diving, relaxing on the beach, or perhaps taking a cooking class in typical Ligurian cuisine.

There are also opportunities to hop on a boat to Palmaria Island in the Gulf of La Spezia, or "Gulf of Poets", and Portovenere, the pretty town at the end of the Cinque Terre Peninsula.

The National Park has much to offer. Take an optional guided excursion within the park: try diving in the Puntamesco Marine Reserve, cruise by traditional boat, or perhaps visit Portofino for a walk to the beautiful nearby San Fruttuoso Sanctuary.

Opt for a day trip by train to one of Central Italy's renowned cultural centres: Florence, Lucca, or Genoa. Or, there’s always the beach…
