Day 2Cairo

Today, delve into the majesty of the pyramids, starting with the Great Pyramid of King Khufu, dating back to approximately 2600 BC. Conclude your morning with a magnificent view of the Sphinx, the stoic guardian of the Giza Plateau. After an included lunch, immerse yourself in the Grand Egyptian Museum, a site that offers a captivating journey through Cairo's rich history and vibrant modernity. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure, and dinner is at your own discretion this evening.

Day 4Luxor

Begin the day with a visit to Dandara Temple, one of Egypt’s best preserved temples. Sail back to Luxor and drive to the West Bank to meet your student guide for walk at the Funtasia Project Centre. This G Adventures-supported initiative has benefited the local community for years. Learn more over tea and an orientation with the students. Then, head to the Valley of the Kings to explore and take in the grandeur of this monumental place. Travel back to the ship for the evening.

Dandara Temple Visit

After arriving in Luxor visit Dandara Temple. Dedicated to Hathour, the Goddess of love and motherhood, the temple has tombs around the site that belong to the old kingdom. There's also some well known details on the ceiling that show the first calendar in the Ancient World. Dandara is often said to be the best preserved temple in Egypt. It sees fewer visitors than other sites in the area and yet is one of the most expansive.

Funtasia Project Visit

After breakfast the group will travel to the West Bank to meet our student-guide. Together we will walk through the village and visit the Funtasia Project Center where the group will learn about the Planeterra project at this location over tea with our guide.

Funtasia is a local nonprofit that works with young people in the West Bank of Luxor to develop life skills and social consciousness. They work with youth in after school programs that teach art, communication, and social skills.

Valley of the Kings Visit

Visit the Valley of the Kings. See the impressive narrow, rock-hewn corridors and take in the magnificent decoration and designs of the tombs of the pharaohs. This place holds elaborately decorated tombs of pharaohs and nobles, serving as an example of ancient Egyptian art, religious beliefs, and daily life.

Get ready this morning for an epic party and a once-in-a-lifetime event! Head to the cruise deck and enjoy the Solar Eclipse Viewing Party. After witnessing the day turn to night in a matter of seconds, toast to the sky. The path of totality will not appear in this region again in any of our lifetimes. After the eclipse, have lunch on board before sailing to Edfu, passing through Esna Lock.

The adventure today includes a visit to Philae Temple. Then, sail to Elephantine Island to walk through a Nubian Village where you will learn about their culture and hear their unique spoken language, passed down through generations. Sit down for tea together before a scenic Felucca ride on the Nile around Kitchener Island. The boat will overnight near Aswan.

Sail across the Nile to the beautiful island of Agilkia and explore the Greco Roman history of the Temple of Philae, built as a dedication to the Goddess Isis. This temple complex was moved from its original location on the Island of Philae after the flooding of Lake Nasser, the word "philae" meaning "the end" in reference to this island's placement on what was once the southernmost border of Egypt.

Your Local Living Moment: Nubian Village Felucca Ride Visit & Tea

Board a felucca and float along the magnificent Nile, with views of the Aga Khan Mausoleum and Kitchener Island. Stop on one of the inhabited Nile islands in this area, to tour a local Nubian village, where you will learn about Nubian people, their culture, and their own distinct language. A language that actually can not be learned as it does not have an alphabet. Visit a local family for mint tea and a chat about their lives and history.

Day 8Aswān/Kom Ombo

The group will have a free morning to relax or book the optional visit to Abu Simbel. Then, the boat will sail to Kom Ombo with time to recharge on board as the scenery passes by.

Temple of Abu Simbel Visit

Part historic monument and part modern marvel, Abu Simbel is one of Egypt’s grandest temples. Built during the rule of Ramses the II this structure was almost swallowed by the Nile, but now stands safe and sound thanks to some crafty archaeologists and UNESCO. Travel through Egypt’s rugged landscapes and the towering figures of Ramses himself, Ra-Horakhty, Amun, and Ptah will all be waiting to welcome you.

Day 9Kom Ombo/Luxor

Experience a visit to the Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. Then, sail to Luxor for a full day of cruising along the Nile.
