Lapta Coastal Walk

Visit the 16th-century Kyrenia Castle and uncover its history, first built by the Byzantines then occupied by Romans, the Crusaders and Ottomans. Stroll down to the harbourfront and enjoy picturesque views of the sea. Continue to the Old Town, once protected by stone fortifications.

Built with granite and sandstone, Kantara Castle takes its name from the Arabic for 'bridge' - a fitting description of its strategic location between the mountains and the sea.

Climb up to the ruins of St. Hilarion Castle, a majestic maze of stone walls with a very famous lookout point - it's said that Walt Disney took inspiration for one of his fairytale castles here. Continue to Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. Wander the Old Town and see the striking Selimiye Mosque and Arab Ahmet quarter. Visit a bakery and observe how traditional foods, such as lahmacun (dough topped with minced meat) and olive breads are made.
