Arrive in Cusco at any time and transfer to hotel.

Arrive at the airport in Cusco and transfer to your hotel. Relax and acclimatise to the altitude with free time to explore the fascinating city of Cusco.

Meet and Greet Hotel Welcome Meeting

On Day 1 of the tour, a G Adventures representative will meet you at the hotel to go over the details of the tour, providing a schedule, documentation/vouchers, and pick-up times for all included activities. The representative can also answer any questions about the tour or the general area.

Our best advice for making the most of Cusco is to wear a comfortable pair of shoes, arm yourself with a city map and set off to explore!

Inka Museum

Get ready to explore the artifacts from the Inca Empire, including mummies, jewelry, skulls, and ceramics at this museum of archaeology.

La Merced Visit
Cusco

Enjoy a visit to this historic church and convent, first built in 1536 and rebuilt in 1675 (it was destroyed in the 1650 earthquake). Take in the wonderful architecture here, including Baroque Renaissance cloisters and beautiful wood carvings. There's also an ornate monstrance on display; made of gold and covered with gemstones, it's a must see.

Horseback Riding

Hop in the saddle and explore Cusco’s archaeological sites by horseback on a 3.5 hr tour – no previous experience needed. Dress for the weather, and bring sunblock and a hat, just in case.

Coricancha and Santo Domingo Visit

Explore magnificent Corincancha, once the Incan Empire's richest temple and the main ruin site within the city of Cusco. This ruin forms the foundation of the colonial church of Santo Domingo and provides a fantastic glimpse into ancient history as well as a cross section of religion and architecture.

Mountain Biking

Take to two wheels and head out into the hills around Cusco for some nature-meets-adrenaline fun. Try a trip to the Sacred Valley, perhaps, visiting an Inca ruin along the way.

Whitewater Rafting Urubamba

Rise for an early morning pick up and drive to Chuquicahuana for a safety briefing. Enjoy a full day of rafting on the Upper Vilcanota River (about 2.5 hrs on the water). Be thrilled by fast rapids that are a constant Class III and IV for around 11km (9 mi), and don’t forget to take in the gorgeous scenery. Rehash all the excitement afterward over a riverside picnic lunch.

Ride an early morning train to Aguas Calientes for a guided tour of the inspiring Machu Picchu ruins. Return to Cusco this evening.

Board a morning train that winds through the spectacular Urubamba Valley to Aguas Calientes, a frontier town nestled in the hills beneath Machu Picchu. Join our local guide for a detailed interpretation of the site and Inca history. After the tour, there is free time to explore on your own. Return to Cusco in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel for the night.
