Experience the flavours and scents of traditional northern Thai cuisine with a hands-on cooking class. With fresh herbs, produce, meats and seafood from a local market, prepare northern Thai (known as 'Lan Na') dishes in a tranquil, rural setting.
Head into the peaceful countryside of Chiang Mai and visit a rural community. Stroll through the village and learn about local life. Afterwards, experience a traditional northern khantoke-style dinner with a local family. Sit on the floor around the khantoke, a large teak wood tray, and savour the sticky rice, hang-le curry and crispy pork served with chili paste. Visit the Royal Palace Museum and Wat Xiengthong. After, tour the city and then catch a boat to Pak Ou Temple caves and stop in local villages.
Explore the winding streets of Luang Prabang to see all this town has to offer. Visit the 16th-century Buddhist temple of Wat Xieng Thong to discover its importance and history in Laos culture. Continue on to the Royal Palace Museum, home to the country’s crown jewels, many religious artifacts, and a 50kg (110 lb) Buddha, cast of gold, silver and bronze. Afterwards, take a boat ride to the mythic Pak Ou caves. A shrine to the river spirit and Buddha, these caves are on the most respected holy sites in Laos. Bring a flashlight and tour the darkest recesses in search of thousands of hidden Buddha statues.
The morning is free for optional activities such as visiting textile galleries, relaxing in one of the town's cafes, or visiting the Ethnology Museum. In the afternoon, take an excursion to Kuang Si waterfall.
Journey to this magnificent multi-level waterfall, where relaxing is highly recommended. Explore the multiple picture-perfect pools as well as the nearby Asiatic black bear rescue centre (located between the park entrance and waterfall).
There's plenty to see and do in Luang Prabang, and we wanted to make sure that you had some time to take it all in. Feel free to relax or try optional activities like learning about Laotian cuisine with a cooking class, getting a massage, and cycling around town.
Shop until your heart’s content at the night market in Luang Prabang – one of the best in Southeast Asia. Head to the market around dusk. Tour the vendor stalls lining the streets offering food, wooden statues, clothes, trinkets and souvenirs to dozens of people wandering up and down the market. Don't miss the opportunity to interact with the sellers and gently negotiate a good price.
Visit Ock Pop Tok "East Meets West" Living Crafts Centre on the banks of the Mekong River to learn from artisans about Laos handicrafts and the importance of woven textiles in Laos culture. Opt to enjoy a drink in the cafe.
Take an independent tour of the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC) to learn about the traditional arts and cultures of Laos’s many diverse ethnic groups. Shop in the TAEC Boutique for authentic village-made handicrafts and relax with a drink at the museum café.

Drive to Halong Bay for an overnight cruise on a junk boat which includes a seafood meal. Visit caves or an island lookout.
Transfer to Bai Chay harbour, the entry point to Halong Bay. The sailing junk takes you to some islands and caves. Transfer from boat to kayak for a guided water tour, giving you the chance to get even closer to the stunning natural surroundings. You could enjoy an evening drink on the deck beneath the stars.
On rare occasion Halong Bay is closed to tourist vessels by the government authorities due to extreme weather conditions. Should this occur, an alternate activity will be provided.
Spend the day aboard a traditional junk boat. Cruise slowly on the calm bay on this comfortable craft, soaking in the magnificent karst scenery. Relax on deck and catch some rays or stay inside – you’ll still be able to enjoy the scenery through the windows.
During the cruise, feast on local seafood, visit one of the massive cave systems on the islands, and stop off at a floating fishing village. Head out in kayaks or dive in for a refreshing swim.
The next day, continue to cruise through the limestone karsts in the morning with a stop after breakfast by the islands of Man's Head and Turtle Island. Enjoy your final seafood lunch before disembarking.
