Itinerary

Day 1Nairobi

Arrive at any time. Meet your CEO and group for a welcome meeting in the evening followed by an optional welcome dinner.

Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Don't forget to see the notice in the lobby (or ask reception) for the official time and place to meet up with the group.

Day 2Nairobi/Tsavo

Travel by train to Tsavo on a railway known as The Iron Snake, in honour of an ancient tribal prophecy attributed to the Masai, Kĩkũyũ, Kamba and Kalenjin tribes in Kenya. Enjoy a packed picnic lunch along the way. Enter Tsavo East National Park for a safari drive before an included dinner back at the lodge. Known for its vast, untouched wilderness, Tsavo is home to the iconic “Red Elephants” that bathe in the local red-dust.

Day 3Tsavo

Return to the lodge around lunch time and take advantage of a free afternoon to relax by the pool. Or choose to book an optional afternoon safari drive. Dinner will be had at the lodge this evening.

Day 4Tsavo/Watamu

Experience one final safari drive through Tsavo East National Park on the way to Watamu. Along the way stop for a visit to the Archaeological site of Gedi. Get settled at the hotel before an included cooking class and dinner featuring East African classic dishes popular along the coast.

The archaeological site of Gedi is the ruins of a wealthy Swahili city in Kenya, inhabited from the 13th to early 17th centuries, known for its impressive coral stone architecture, advanced infrastructure including a water system and flushing toilets, and participation in Indian Ocean trade. The ruins were rediscovered in the early 20th century and is now categorized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5Watamu

Spend a full free day in Watamu, a small coastal town in Kenya. Known for the Watamu Marine National Park and Reserve. Sandy beaches, home to seabirds, Mida Creek, sand flats, and mangrove forests. Then, choose to visit a local ocean conservation project working to protect the area. Later this afternoon, choose to book the Dhow Sunset Cruise. The rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Watamu Full Day

The group will have a full free day to experience Watamu. Choose to swim, lounge on the beach, book a sunset cruise, or visit a local ocean conservation project.

Dhow Sunset Cruise from Watamu
Watamu

Mida Creek is a large tidal estuary near Watamu, offering tranquil waters and mangrove-lined shores. The dhow sunset cruise is a unique experience aboard a floating restaurant. It includes delicious bites and a sundowner as golden hours approaches. There are sandy islands separated by narrow channels winding through mangrove-covered islands form the edges of this large tidal creek. The area is known for its amazing bird life, such as Greater Flamingo, Yellow-Billed Stork, Great White Egret and Malachite Kingfisher. It is also the winter home of many migranting birds such as the Crab Plover, Curlew Sandpiper, Whimbrel and Sanderling. The osprey and African fish eagle are often overhead. The only human inhabitants are a handful of local fishermen casting their nets in the traditional manner. It is the perfect atmosphere in which to watch the African sunset slowly, and bring yet another day in paradise to a close.

Travel to Mombasa today where the tour ends upon arrival. Please do not book onward travel prior to 3pm.
