Hutt River seceded from Australia in 1970. This independent sovereign state consists of some 18,500 acres of rolling farmland and at last count, has a grand total population of 23 residents. Visit this quirky ‘micronation’, check out Mt Secession and Lake Serenity, have tea and check out the historical displays in the town of Nain.
Travel 13km (8 mi) south of town to Kalbarri NP. Enjoy a hike along the path that hugs this stunning stretch of West Australian coast. Bring your camera and take great shots of cliffscapes, waves breaking, and if you're really lucky, whales breaching off shore. It can get quite hot here, especially during the summer months, so don't forget to bring lots of water!

This is a beach unlike any other. Shell Beach in Shark Bay of Western Australia is made up entirely of billions of tiny cockle shells.

Soak in the views from the Vlamingh Head lookout. Built in 1912 this Lighthouse looks out over the bay and is one of the only points in Australia that has a view of the sunrise and sunset. Visitors are not allowed in the actual lighthouse but the view from the surrounding area is just as amazing.

Grab a mask and snorkel and discover the coral gardens off the coast. Be aware of the strong currents; this area is enjoyed most by strong swimmers.
