It’s difficult to fit all the varied experiences of northern Thailand into just one week, but we found a way. Through a combination of flights, boats and the omnipresent tuk tuk, travellers need not sacrifice cultural activities and inspiring sites on this comfort-focused trip. Day 2Bangkok/Kanchanaburi(1B)

Travel to Kanchanaburi, home to the 'Bridge on the River Kwai'. Take a train journey over the bridge.

Day 3Kanchanaburi/Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya(1B, 1D)

Morning visit to Erawan National Park and waterfall then visit the Thai/Burma War Museum and War Cemetery. This afternoon, travel to Ayutthaya and enjoy dinner on a rice barge.

Day 4Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya/Chiang Mai(1B)

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ayutthaya Historical Park, then return to Bangkok to catch a flight to Chiang Mai.

Day 5Chiang Mai(1B, 1D)

Enjoy a day in the capital of the North with free time to explore. In the afternoon, listen to monks chanting at Doi Suthep Temple then enjoy an authentic Khantoke dinner of local specialties.

Day 6Chiang Mai(1B, 1D)

Enjoy the morning and early afternoon free to explore or take some optional activities. Later we take a Thai cooking class at a private culinary school, then enjoy the results for dinner.

Day 7Chiang Mai/Bangkok(1B)

Flight to bustling Bangkok for a klong riverboat tour and visit to Wat Po.
