Killian Driscoll

National Geographic Grant Winner, Archaeologist

National Geographic grantee Killian Driscoll is an archaeologist who specializes in prehistoric archaeology. He studied archaeology and history at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and completed his Ph.D. at University College Dublin. Killian has held post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Barcelona, the Université de Montréal and University College Dublin. His research focuses on Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic archaeology with a particular emphasis on the study of stone-tool raw materials, manufacturing techniques and landscapes.

In addition to his professional career, Killian is also an avid student of medieval and modern history, with a keen interest in various subjects such as architecture, botany, gastronomy and viticulture. A native of Ireland, Killian has lived in the United States and Canada and has been based in Spain for the past 14 years. He has participated in numerous National Geographic Expeditions to various regions including Ireland, Spain, France and the Baltic States.
