Ore Huiying

National Geographic Explorer, Documentary Photographer

Ore Huiying is a Singapore-based National Geographic Explorer and documentary photographer whose work focuses on the complex relationships between people, place, and development across Asia. Her images have been published in internationally recognised outlets including National Geographic, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, and have been exhibited at photo festivals, museums, and galleries worldwide.

In 2018, Ore was selected for the World Press Photo 6×6 Global Talent Program, which identifies emerging visual storytellers from each inhabited continent. In the same year, she received the top honour at the Invisible Photographer Asia Awards, recognising her distinctive approach to long-form documentary work.

As a National Geographic Explorer, she is currently documenting the social and environmental impacts of dam construction along the Mekong River. Her work focuses on the riverine communities most directly affected by these changes, highlighting their experiences and bringing greater visibility to the broader ecological and social consequences of large-scale development.

Through her photography, Ore aims to deepen public understanding of the Mekong region and encourage more informed conversations around development, displacement, and environmental change.
