Susan Van Allen is an award-winning writer, who has contributed stories to National Geographic—among other publications—and authored 4 books on Italian travel, including 100 Places in Italy Every Woman Should Go. She is a featured speaker for national tourism boards, travel clubs and bookstores across the country, as well as for events like The New York Times Travel Show. Her credits also include writing for television on the staff of the Emmy® Award-winning sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.

Van Allen has maternal roots in Italy and has been experiencing the joys of travel in the Bel Paese for 50 years, always discovering new places, uncovering hidden treasures and sharing them all with her readers.
